Posting a Day Late

snipingblusInside are two folded over notes one containing personal information and the other reading as follows:
I am not good at getting gifts for people and really anything you want you should be able to afford yourself. Really, considering the paychecks we get and how little there is to spend that money on you should be able to afford a small island and anything you want to put on it and still have more money than sense at the end of the day.
So instead you get this and I hope it is good enough. I will not be at this base forever and if you want to keep in touch you will need a little more information than "He may or may not be a RED Sniper and he may or may not be called Hugh" so I am giving you everything you need to find me no matter what base I go to next.
This is difficult to do and I would appreciate it if you don't mention it at all.

I like to think I know you well enough that I could think up something you would actually like to get and I am sure that everything I can think of is perfectly reasonable but none of it would express what I want. It is frightening how many times I have have rewritten this trying to fit in what I want to say without making myself out to be a blithering idiot and I have come to the conclusion that I am not going to be able to do it so I will keep this simple.
At some point you will be leaving and maybe it will happen earlier than you said and maybe it will happen later. Sometimes the people in charge like to throw spanners in the works and they can destroy the most careful of plans. The real world has always seemed like a place where you belong more than here. This job does horrible things to people and I would rather not see you end up anything like me or hear about you ever coming back because it's difficult to settle and stay out there. I like having you around and it will be sad to see you go but like it is with Mauritz it will be a relief to know you are out there.
When it comes down to it I want to offer you everything I possibly can to help if you would accept it.
It is something we should speak about in person sometime. Keeping a note simple leaves a lot of things out.

And hidden somewhere in with the packaging was a note:
Let's see if you can put these to good use.
